No. 10 Flagler Too Much for Lady Saints in 7-2 Victory
DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia women's tennis picked up a pair of points in singles play on Saturday afternoon, but fell 7-2 to 10th-ranked Flagler College at the Yahoola Creek Tennis Complex in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Lady Saints fall to 7-10 overall on the season and 2-8 in the Peach Belt Conference, while Flagler improves to 10-2 overall and 9-1 in league play.
North Georgia nearly pulled out a point in doubles play as Stasa Vujosevic and Laura Chapman took Lauren Pfeiffer and Rachel Gould to the edge, but the Flagler duo pulled out the 9-7 victory to send their team to a 3-0 lead heading to singles play.
The Lady Saints would not back down in singles play however, as Chapman came out firing at No. 1 singles and upset Pfeiffer in straight sets 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 to give North Georgia their first point of the day.
Vujosevic followed at No. 2 singles and pulled off a three-set thriller over Veronica Figueroa 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 11-9 to capture another point, but that would be all the Lady Saints would get as they fell 7-2 at the hands of Flagler.
The Lady Saints return to action on Sunday afternoon, welcoming top-ranked and unbeaten Armstrong Atlantic to town for another Peach Belt Conference match at the Yahoola Creek Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 12-noon.
