Contact: Steve Cunha,

WINGATE, NC – The struggles continued for the North Georgia women's tennis team on Thursday afternoon as they dropped their sixth straight contest, falling to Wingate 8-1 at the Wingate University Tennis Complex.

The Lady Saints (5-7) have cooled off after a hot start and have dropped four straight contests away from Dahlonega, while Wingate (8-2) won their second straight match against a team from the Peach Belt Conference.

The Bulldogs pounced on the Lady Saints early taking two out of three doubles matches. The lone team to register points for North Georgia was the duo of Natalia Escobar and Juliana Moscoco-Chiang who won their match at No. 1 doubles 8-4.

Jordan Poole and Audrey Marlette dropped a heartbreaker at No. 2 doubles, falling 9-7.

In singles action, the Bulldogs outmatched the Lady Saints registering a clean sweep, while winning five of the six matches in straight sets. The lone member of North Georgia to take her match to three sets was Escobar who won her first set, but dropped the last two at No. 1 singles.

The Lady Saints return to the courts on Sunday, March 18, when they host Augusta State in Peach Belt Conference action.
