MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The North Georgia women's tennis team continued to struggle on the road Monday afternoon, falling 7-2 at Georgia College at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Lady Saints (6-14, 1-8 PBC) see their losing streak stretch to five matches, while Georgia College (10-3, 5-5) continues to roll as they ranked No. 30 in the country.
North Georgia nearly pulled out a point at No. 1 doubles when Natalia Escobar and Juliana Chiang went toe-to-toe with Kayla Barksdale and Lisa Setyon-Ortenzio, but the Bobcat duo pulled out the 9-8 thriller.
Maria Romero was the lone singles player to pick up a win, taking down Sara Roberts 6-1, 6-3. Nela Handac was also awarded a win at No. 5 singles by default, giving North Georgia their only two points of the match.
The Lady Saints return to the courts on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming Carson-Newman to town for a non-conference battle. First serve against the Eagles is slated for 2:00 p.m. at the North Georgia Tennis Complex.
