#32 Men's Tennis Claims 7-2 Win Over #26 Young Harris, Women Fall 7-2 to #34 Mountain Lions

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The 32nd-ranked University of North Georgia men's tennis team captured a 7-2 Peach Belt Conference victory over the 26th-ranked Mountain Lions of Young Harris College Tuesday afternoon. The 34th-ranked Young Harris women defeated the Saint women by an identical 7-2 score at the North Georgia Tennis Complex.

Tuesday's duel match served as the final home contest of the season and "Senior Day" for North Georgia. Prior to doubles action, head coach Kent Norsworthy recognized the Saints' three seniors, Jordan PooleFelipe Friedrich and Andy McMaster, for their contributions over the past few seasons.

For the men (8-7, 2-7 PBC), Friedrich, ranked 31st in the nation and ninth in the Southeast Region, claimed his seventh win in a row with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gabriel Oliveira after combining with Matheus Guida to defeat the 25th-ranked tandem of Joan Valls and Guilherme Frias 8-6.

McMaster joined forces with Mario Mesquita to take down Oliveira and Martin Harach 8-3 with the Mountain Lions' only victory in singles action coming at No. 4 singles.

UNG's women (6-10, 2-8 PBC) claimed wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles. Cameron Williams and Adalyn Hazelman won their fifth-straight doubles match 8-6 over Charlotte Moreau and Lina Parra Pava. Natalia Escobar defeated Moreau 4-6, 7-6, 2-0 while Williams pushed her No. 1 singles match with 15th-ranked Jane Plevako to three sets.

The Saint men will close out their 2013 campaign with three road matches against Carson-Newman College, the University of South Carolina Aiken and Newberry College. The Saints and Eagles will first tangle on Wednesday, Apr. 3 at 12:00 p.m.

UNG's women have six final road matches left on their slate to close out the 2013 season starting with a match against Carson-Newman tomorrow.
