BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. – The regular-season opened up Saturday morning for the North Georgia College & State women's cross country team as the squad competed in its first meet in more than two years, the Young Harris Invitational. The squad finished third in the four-team event with three runners finishing inside the top-10.
Emily Beusse paced the Saints with a fourth-place effort, crossing the line in the women's 5,000 meter race in a time of 21:13.75. Also finishing in the top-10 for North Georgia were Emily Roemer in ninth (22:02.72) and Meagan Anstett in 10th (22:19.93).
Young Harris' Nicole Smith claimed the individual crown in the event in a time of 20:29.00 as the Mountain Lions finished runner-up to the University of West Georgia which claimed four of the top-10 spots in the four-team meet.
The team will be back in action next weekend when they compete in the North Georgia Tech Invitational in Clarksville, Ga. on Friday, Sept. 7.
