Saints Cross Country Finishes Fifth at JSU Foothill Invite
OXFORD, Ala. – The North Georgia College & State University women's cross country team competed in Jacksonville State University's 5K JSU Foothill Invitational Friday evening in Oxford, Ala. The Saints placed fifth out of the 12 teams in attendance led once again by junior Emily Beusse with a collective time of 1:45:14.81 and 153 total points.
Fellow Peach Belt Conference institution Columbus State University finished with 60 points and a total time of 1:38:12.03 while Jacksonville State finished second just two points behind. Alabama State was third.
Austin Peay's Xiamar Richards claimed the individual crown of the event in a time of 18:39.17, three seconds ahead of second place finisher Paige Rankin from Alabama State.
Beusse finished the Foothill meet in 15th place, seeing her stretch of four-straight top-10 finishes come to an end. The junior from Dawsonville led the Saints with a time of 19:41.81.
Behind Beusse, freshman Emily Roemer finished in 28th with a time of 20:49.33. Meagan Anstett was third on the team with a time of 21:09.48 and Sallie Davis finished in a time of 21:26.42. Rounding out the scoring for North Georgia were Karley Barcus (22:07.77), Lexie Miller (22:37.06) and Nicole Shine (22:41.66).
The Saints have one final meet of the regular season before the PBC Championships held in Montevallo, Ala. on Saturday, Oct. 20. North Georgia's regular-season finale will be the Berry College Invitational in Rome, Ga. on Saturday, Oct. 13.
