Emmy Lawalin named PBC Runner of the Week

Teams return to action this weekend at PBC Championships

DAHLONEGA, GA - Sophomore Emmy Lawalin was named Peach Belt Runner of the Week announced by the conference office this afternoon. This is the first weekly award cross country has received in two years.

Lawalin finished third at the Erskine Invitational, her highest finish during her collegiate career. She ran the 5k course in 20:51, her second-best 5k this season and was the first Division II runner to cross the line and the first PBC runner.

Lawalin helped lead the lady Saints to a second-place finish in the 15-team event, the highest finish for the Lady Saints since Amanda Harris became head coach in 2006.

The sophomore has finished first for the Lady Saints every race this season, and posted a season best 19:59 at the Auburn Invitational.

The men's and women's cross country teams will be in action this Saturday as they head to Augusta State for the Peach Belt Conference Championships.
