CULLOWHEE, NC - North Georgia College & State University’s track & field squad competed at the Catamount Classic on the campus of Western Carolina University over the weekend with several athletes recording notable finishes.
Alan Schmitz continued his good work in the 800-meter race, winning the event in 1:52.88, nearly two seconds ahead of the competition.
Dillon Bowers showed he belonged with some of the best in the southeast, taking second place in the pole vault event with 4.69 meters, while Joey Robinson followed in sixth place, clearing 3.64 meters.
On the women’s side, Crystal Crouch recorded a top-three finish in the 1500-meter run, taking third place with a time of 5:49.48.
North Georgia had a trio of Lady Saints compete in the 3000-meter race, with Bea Nelligan and Candace Chumley finishing sixth and seventh while freshman Savannah Bryce took ninth.
North Georgia track & field will return to action at Morehouse University on may 3.
