2008 (As a Freshman) – Clocked a season-best and season-high 28:39 for eighth place in the 8k Sewanee Invitational…took 28th (29:57) at the Peach Belt Conference Championship.

High School – Ran under head coach Tom Kutter at Shiloh High School...named 4-star scholar athlete all 4 years, Gwinnett County runner of the month in freshmen and junior year, team captain in junior year, 4 year letterman, and most valuable runner in junior year...member of Gwinnett all-county team in junior year...qualified  in 2004 and 2005 in Ga state cross country championship...has numerous top 10 high school cross country and track finishes.

Personal – Born on July 18,1989...son of Pete and Fran Mattix...has 2 brothers, Brandon and Jake...majoring in education.
