ATLANTA, GA
– The North Georgia College & State University track
& field teams competed in their second meet of the season over
the weekend, traveling to Atlanta to take part in the Emory
University Classic.
The men’s team took 13th place in the field of 14 teams with
12 total points, as Hope College was the winner with 194 points,
followed by Taylor College and Union College.
The women finished 24th in the field of 16 teams with 10 total
points, while host Emory University was the winner with 168.5
points, and Murray State was second, while Wilmington of Ohio took
third.
North Georgia’s Stephen Eckenroth turned in the best
performance of the weekend on the men’s side, finishing
second with 5,763 points in the decathlon, including first-place
finishes in the high jump, and the 1,500-meter events.
Courtney Cantrell had the high finish on the women’s side,
taking third place in the discuss throw at 34.93-meters, while
Annie James was fifth place in the pole vault at 2.74-meters.
North Georgia returns to action on April 3, 2010, at the Gym of
the Hill Invitational hosted by Jacksonville State University.
