North Georgia enters the 2011 NCAA Tournament with an automatic bid after claiming the program’s third straight Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championship.
The Saints, who are currently ranked No. 2 in the country in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll, have won nine straight games and 21 of their last 22 games dating back to the third week in March.
Head coach Mike Davenport has guided North Georgia to a perfect 10-0 record in the NCAA Regional and Super Regional rounds in each of the last two seasons, as the Saints are looking to make a third straight World Series appearance.
The Saints lead the country with 47 wins, and are led by one of the best pitching staffs in the nation. With a team earned run average of 1.10, North Georgia has nearly 450 strikeouts in only 380 inning of work. Jessica Coan leads the trio of pitchers with a 24-4 record, including a 0.78 earned run average with 294 strikeouts.
The offense is paced by senior Kasey Knight who has a .369 batting average, while freshman Ansley Williams is hitting .337 with 12 home runs, 10 doubles, and 44 runs batted after coming off an MVP performance in the PBC Tournament.
